Monday morning irony!

I love the weekends....for a multitude of reasons, one of them being that I can sleep for a little bit longer than usual. Well, that wasn't to be so this weekend...

Saturday morning: 6:30

Sunday morning: 6:45

Monday morning.......of course she's still snoozing HARD at 7:10!! (yes, running VERY late to work!!!)

I just wanted a little bit of sleep.....during the week, Little had woken up in the middle of the night (4:30, 5:00) and had to be put back to bed....so I just wanted a night without interruptions and a little later wake up time.....alas, it wasn't meant to be!!!!

Have an OUTSTANDING week! Love the rain...isn't much, but we'll take it!

Sunday Thoughts

A Pastor with GUTS!!

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expectingthe usual generalities, but this is what they heard: Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We hav e shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem..
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India , Africa and Korea .
Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,'and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.
With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called 'one nation under God.'
.' Love & God Bless

FaceBook is EVIL

Ok, so I say that b/c it is such a waste of time; I guess that is why I downloaded it on my BLACKBERRY!!!!! YIKES, I am going insane!

It is lots o'fun b/c I feel like I'm back in HS and meeting up with all my HS buds and you find out that the geeks aren't so geekie and the nerds not so nerdy and maybe even the snobs not so snobby!!! (don't know if I'd go this far, but thinking positively!)

Fun all around and I've even peer-pressured my best gal to join as well as my sister!

While I should be working on my university work, I'm scoping out my friends, seeing what they are up to. It is funny b/c some folks tell the most RANDOM things and do so often....others, like me, don't really say much. I know, by reading my blog you'd think I'd be ALL over the FB thing, but I just really can't sum up what I want to say in a few lines. So, I don't say much. Also, my life isn't that interesting that I need to post, "Just taught a reading group, time for lunch." "Full day testing, time to go home." "Just gave daughter a bath, ready to sit on couch and veg..." Get it, I just don't think that is good stuff to post; so I don't. I have more fun sending messages to friends to see how they are doing.

I'll keep you updated. Oh, BTW, asked my brother in law to be my friend and he DENIED me....what a dude!!!! I know, I'm sure he doesn't want older sister in law peeping into his FB world! Like I care! ha, ha, ha

Help the needy and have fun and never leave your home!!

Free Rice Program

Below is an internet site that donates 10 grains of rice for every question answered correctly.

So far, they have donated 58,708,281,440 grains of rice over approximately two years.

There are approximately 7,000 grains of rice in a measured cup of rice.

That divides into approximately 8,386,897 cups of uncooked rice.

If you divide that by 3 meals a day consisting of 1 cup per meal, you get 2,795,632 people fed three meals in one day.

I have teacher friends that let their students do vocabulary activities on this website. So, pass along the information.

Getting Along

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBtFTF2ii7U

You need to watch this video clip....I'll wait until you get back.......

Now then, you've watched this and we wonder why humans, we are the same species, can't get along. These two animals are as opposite as you can get and they are the best of friends. They can look past color, religion and race, why can't we?

Terrific Book

Ok, so I finished this book a week ago and I'm just now getting around to writing this....crazy week!!!

This Voice In My Heart: A Runner's Memoir of Genocide, Faith and Forgiveness

I think Gilbert Tuhabonye might be the most amazing person that I've never met. Considering what he went through, as a young man and still has love for mankind and his country is an amazing feat!!! He is an inspiration to all.

He is a phenomenal runner and he has a running group in Austin...oh how jealous I am. I did look up some of his training groups....and the ones I am interested in are at times I just can't make. However, my lucky sister, has trained with him and because of this training, she shaved almost ten minutes off of her marathon time. That is FANTASTIC!!!! Also, (I'm so excited I can barely type) she knows Gilbert and over spring break, she is going to introduce me to him and we are going to run with him......or, he and my sister will meet me at the end and we'll have coffee!! ha, ha

This book, since this is what this post is about, talks about his life, his schooling, his family and then the awful genocide that occurred at his school. It is a heartbreaking story, that gives you faith in yourself and mankind.

He looks at every day as a gift from God....rain, sleet, snow, wind, whatever....shouldn't we all be that grateful for what we have every day?

After reading this book, you will strive to be a better person. And, just maybe, you'll want to pick up a pair of running shoes and see where your body can take you, even if it is a walk around the block!!!

Parenting Magazine

Yes, I know I said I wasn't going to gripe, and I'm not, but you really MUST read the article in Parenting Magazine this month (Feb.) titled, "Mad at Dad." I share this tidbit with you b/c it will make you breathe a little easier knowing that your husband isn't the only one that does these not so smart things (see, I tried to make that sound nicer, I could have said dumb, but didn't!) I'm not sure the article is on-line, but many moms get this magazine, so someone is bound to have it for you to read.
