Handicap Sticker Please

I need one of those hang tags for my car window. It is really quite sad, but I have torn the nail on my left thumb so far down that I am unable to use it to text on my Blackberry. If you text often, you know how debilitating this can be. I'm wondering how soon I can get into the doctor and if he'll sign off on the form??? What do you think? If you receive any texts from me, bear with me b/c I am having to type one-handed! :-)

Potty Training Update

Wow, we have made a HUGE hurdle! We are only in diapers at nap time and at night!!!! I am SOOOO very excited. We don't always make it to the potty in time and sometimes it is just b/c we want to go sit in the RR, but overall, we are doing a wonderful job!! The next hurdle is pooping on the potty. We've done it a few times, but it definately isn't on a consistent basis! Oh well, this will come with time.

Kindermusic

We've been going to Kindermusic off and on for over a year now. We LOVE it and we LOVE Mrs. Brooke. If you've never taken your child to Kindermusic, you need to check it out.

Each session, you get a CD (or CD set) and book. This time we got the set and two books!!! Gotta love books!!

In sessions past, I've played the CD, but my child just really wasn't into it...not this time, she LOVES the CD. As we leave the house, she's asking for the "song like a puppy." Or the bees, cats, clock....she sings the songs while she plays, goes to sleep, all the time!

The only downfall of it is that sometimes the songs get stuck in my head!!!! When you are trying to go to sleep, these songs will drive you CRAZY!!!! :-) We love you Brooke!

Bread makers

Have you ever made bread? How about sourdough bread or any other type of bread that requires a starter?

I've made bread. I even make my own pizza dough (you just don't go back once you've done this!)

Breads with starters....nope never have done this until now. Started the starter this weekend. We had to stir the starter twice a day. And of course, I had a helper.

She was the official stir-er for the starter.

The five days were met and it is time to make the dough and then bake the bread. Wow, this is an all day adventure!! After you make the dough, you have to make "old dough" to go into the starter mix. After you make this (I did this yesterday and it didn't rise, so I did it again today .....it has to rise for three hours, hence the reason I tried again on a new day!), you add it to the mix, knead your dough for ten minutes and then let it rise for two hours. After this, you punch it down and let it proof for another 1 to 1.5 hours....and then you bake it for an hour. See? Told you it is an all day event!

I want to make this work b/c my mother-in-law found this WONDERFUL sourdough bread, with cheese and jalapenos at a farmers' market....so surely I can make this, too, right? I'm on spring break, so I have the time.....if all goes well, this will have to be a weekend event!!! I don't think I can take off from work b/c I have to bake bread!! ha, ha

Trip to the Dentist

Children are supposed to start going to the dentist at the age of 2...I waited until 2 1/2 b/c I know my child and if she won't open her mouth for me, she surely won't do it for someone else!!!

We made the appointment and went. So we went and the hygenist was VERY friendly and was great. Gave her a toothbrush and toothpaste. She wanted Little to lay down and let her brush her teeth. Up she went on the table. Wow, this is going to be great and easy......hold on folks, that was the end of THAT! Lay down, nope, no way, no how, get me off this table......so, then we decided to brush our teeth at the sink.

Little let the hygenist help with that. But that was it. I had to hold her the rest of the time. She wouldn't open her mouth, not even for me with the little instrument with the mirror. Finally, the time came for Dr. Cheryl to check her out and I had to hold my little girl down while they looked at her teeth and painted floride on them.....it wasn't bad, but someone was VERY mad at me and everyone else in the world! Hopefully it will be better in six months!

Answers

Here are the answers. How did ya do?

1. The third room. Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead. That one was easy, right?

2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry (shot; held under water; and hung). (Gwen, you better have gotten this one right!)

3. Charcoal, as it is used in barbecuing.

4. Sure you can name three consecutive days, yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

5. The letter e, which is the most common letter used in the English language, does not appear even once in the paragraph.

Riddles

This type of stuff is GREAT for your brain. You have to think to ward off your brain from wasting away. I'll post the answers tomorrow.

1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

3. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away ?

4. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday?

5. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though.. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!

Who is this big girl?

I always put Little's hair in a pony on top of her head b/c she brushes her hair out of her face and gets it dirty. So, I wanted to see if she'd wear a headband......

...and maybe the added fact that I wear one would help inspire her. Nope, she wore it and then told me it hurt so she pulled it off. Oh well, I did snap a picture first. She just looks like such a big girl!!!

New book

...I'm not doing a lot of reading right now b/c by the time I get to bed, I'm so exhausted that I don't even remember touching my head to my pillow.

I started reading Confessions of a Shopaholic and just couldn't get into it.

Part of the problem that it is British and I don't DO British humor. I don't like Monte Python and all that....sorry all you Brit lovers...just not for this Texas gal! The other part is that the main character is really not the brightest, so it is hard to have sympathy for her and her spending habits...yes, I should have known some of this by the title, but the previews for the movie looked cute.
So, went to the spare bedroom and found this book, A Good Woman by Danielle Steele.

It isn't a bad read, just not a lot happening and it surely hasn't gripped me so that I have to read it every night to see what is happening with the characters...but, I'll get through it and let you know ultimately what I think about it!

Zoo

I'm a member of the SA Zoo. Why? B/c I thought it would be a good deal b/c I was going to take Little to the zoo all the time. But alas, this hasn't happened!!! I did go with a friend and her son a few weeks ago. We got to go behind the scenes and get up close and personal with an elephant. That was definately the BEST part. Enjoy the pictures!

The hippos were very fun to watch.

Snack time!

She cried when we left b/c she wanted to crawl under the yellow chain and go pet the elephant!

Goats, smelly but fun!

We got to pot a plant.

Choke Canyon

Ok, so if you know me even slightly, you know that my hubby LOVES to fish. So, the other day we went fishing...this is a HUGE deal b/c I haven't gone fishing with him in quite awhile. You know, that whole LIFE thing getting in the way. The interesting thing about Choke Canyon is that there is a lot more to see there than just fish. This is also a reason I won't let Little go fishing on this lake b/c she doesn't understand danger and there is a lot of danger at this lake. Anyway, here are some pictures!

Gator, only about 10 ft. long. He didn't like us being around.

BIG snake sunning himself. He ignored us!

First fish of the day!

More fishies!

I'm in love....

....with Blue Bell Ice Cream's Candy Jar. When I saw it in the store, I was curious as to what type of candy they put in it. Quite honestly, I'm think it was hard candy and I really thought that would be gross....but I read the incredients: peanut butter cups (do I need to continue reading, isn't that enough to throw multiple containers in the basket?)....I digress, sorry, chocolate chunks, peanut brittle.....some other things, like ice cream, but I don't remember everything 'cause I'm stuck on the peanut butter cups!!!

Take it home. Hubby pulls it out of the bag and gives me this weird look, he's thinking candy? ok, reads the ingredients and says it might work. So, eat a bowl last night and I am in HEAVEN, angels singing....he thinks there is too much peanut butter. What???? How can that be possible. It can't, b/c there isn't. It is FANTASTIC!!! Stop reading right now and go to HEB and get you a 1/2 gallon, or just go ahead and buy two b/c you'll need it!! Happy eating!!!

On the bike again....

....I rode in a bike event this past weekend. It was in Bastrop, through the "rolling" hills of Bastrop park. Ever been there? Me neither and the hills weren't hills, they were pains in my butt, literally. I had to get off my bike and walk (don't worry, I wasn't alone). If you know anyone who rides, this is just not something you do. I have been humbled. I used to ride all of the time, I used to ride LONG distances. This was a short distance of 27 miles that kicked my aching A@#!!!!!

Over 1500 cyclists. BTW, I registered the day of and didn't get a packet or even a tshirt!!! Bummer!!!!
This was me afterwards...I'm hiding the fact that my backside is KILLING me!!!

I feel ok today. I'm a little tired. I did run this morning to work out the kinks, but you'd think I did something worthy of this pain. My muscles aren't up to their former status! Boy, do I have a lot of work to do!!!

out of the mouth of babes.....

Actually, just out of the mouth of my child,
When I picked her up from the sitter, she ran to the television and pointed to it and told me, "Mamma in tv, mamma inside." Cracked me up!

I was showing the segment to Malcolm and she saw me and said again that I was in the tv and then she saw her baby and said, "That's MY baby!"

When I brush her hair, "Get off of me!" or "Go away!"

She makes me laugh, which is always a good thing!

MIA

yes, I'm missing in action. Actually my blog Muse has gone missing, so if she's hangin' out with you, can you send her my way?

I really am just consumed with a million other things. We did go to the zoo, have you seen the pictures? Nope, me neither.....I'll be back, I promiss....thanks for hanging in there!
