Do you have old calendars laying around? You can make a book for your child with it. Take out the staples, cut the pages in half, put two pages together (dates together, pictures out) and laminate (Kinkos) and then bind (Kinkos) and taaaadaaaa, you have a book. Wordless books are great b/c it allows your child to make up stories and you can discuss the pictures, too. Here is one example:
